Kayleen Allen
I’m an instructional designer with over a decade of experience in education, course facilitation, and curriculum development. My work spans a variety of sectors—including healthcare, software development, public education, banking, and government—where I create impactful learning solutions such as eLearning modules, instructional videos, facilitator guides, and course materials.
My instructional design process is rooted in a learner-centered approach. I begin by conducting needs assessments to understand learner goals, objectives, and any existing gaps. From there, I collaborate with subject matter experts to align content with instructional strategies that promote engagement and knowledge retention. I apply adult learning theory and incorporate ID frameworks to design content, followed by iterative prototyping, review cycles, and user testing to ensure accuracy and effectiveness. Whether I’m designing content for social interactions or software onboarding, I prioritize accessibility, clarity, and meaningful interaction.
I hold a B.A. in English and an M.Ed. in Education. I began my education career as a middle and high school Language Arts teacher. While teaching, I pursued my interest in instructional design by earning a Graduate Certificate in Learning Design & Technology. That experience helped me transition into the field of instructional design, where I continue to blend creativity with evidence-based practices to support adult learners across industries.
